Gossip

Gossip is relating news, true or false, about another person, with an implied or stated judgment about the person's character.

This is one of the most powerful scenes in cinema, from the movie Doubt. Watch it. If you've gossiped, consider repenting to the person against whom you've gossiped.

  1. I disagree with your definition.

    Gossip is the communication of damaging/hurtful truth behind someone's back.

    Slander is the communication of damaging/hurtful untruths behind someone's back.

    So slander has to do with false words, gossip about true words. That's how I see it in Scripture...
